My first Crochet Project

I learned how to crochet.

I did a simple search through Pinterest, and found a super easy to follow tutorial for beginners.

In just a few hours, with many pause & restarts of the video, I finally got the hang of it.  I made Crochet flowers.

Next, I made several long braided ropes using my own technique which is very similar to crocheting, only using just my hands and cotton twine.  I then positioned & sewed the crochet flowers onto the braided ropes.

What do you think? Did they come out okay?

Below is the video that taught me how to crochet my pretty flowers. I am so Thankful for the talented woman (Laura) at HappyBerry Crochet, who put together that video.

  1. Really impressed! When I learnt to crochet I stuck to long lines for ages. I’ve branched out a bit now and have made a few other things thanks to Attic24 and The Crochet Crowd.

    • Thank you. so much! I know I will never learn how to make anything bigger, nor will I be able to learn the lingo. I went to a site the other day and saw all the abbreviations for stitches etc, and I was like……WhaaaaaT? lol I will learn strictly from beginner videos for particular projects 🙂 I will have to check out Attic24.

  2. I found a similar thing on Pinterest only it was a sort of crochet valance that I liked. I don’t know how to crochet but I just taught myself to knit (you have to love the internet sometimes!) and am making a sweater for my son. Let’s hope my project turns out as well as yours!

    • Thank you!! I am so thankful for those who make the step by step videos. I reeeally wanted those flowers, that’s the only reason I bought hooks & yarn lol. Now I want to learn more and wish I learned crochet sooner.
I have no idea how to do anything else but the flowers and don’t think I can take on a sweater at this stage! You are miles ahead of me for sure! 🙂

  3. Very pretty!! Love the idea of using the flowers as tie backs. I haven’t crocheted in decades but I remember enjoying it and needlepoint over knitting but that was back in my crafting days. I’ll take a glimpse of the video you posted.
